Mountains, Monkeys & Treehouses: Kep National Park & Dinner at Verandah Resort

Although we didn't set off until mid-morning after a leisurely breakfast (mad dogs and Englishmen!) Chris and I ventured along the winding mountain trail that is the walking track in Kep National Park yesterday. The turnoff and park entry was easy walking distance away, one of the reasons I chose our hotel. We were hot and sweaty and ready for a swim but the time we got back, but it was enjoyable enough and we saw monkeys, colourful butterflies and interesting, intricate spider webs en route and there were stopping points with visits out across the ocean- Kampot in one direction, Vietnam in the other (we are only 35km form the border), our resort, keep Beach and Koh Thonsay (Rabbit Island)  visible in the distance. And cows. Everywhere emaciated, white, Brahminny bullocky-looking cows!

After lazing around near the pool and back at our room, we decided on The Verandah for dinner. Slightly more upmarket but delicious food and generous servings. Full of English and Scottish people. There were kittens roaming around which looked like junior versions of Chris's cats. The Maitre D' let me play the piano and soon people were making requests! The little Aussie boy dining close by requested Blue Suede shoes, so I had to improvise some rollicking blues beats! Fun. We ended the day with the traditional moonlight dip in the pool, which is helping to sooth my aches from the mountain walk.
