In a Country Phare, Phare Away...

We bought tickets to the circus! Phare (pronounced Far) has recently purchased land and a new big top. Wonderful acrobatics, and the band was really good too. Not a rope in sight, it is all done on the floor.

The story skilfully wove tumbling and juggling into the story of Cambodia's history of  being constantly invaded- by Thailand, Vietnam, France economically plundered, and the Khmer Rouge, and having to defend itself, including the infighting and civil unrest.

The organization supports AIDs and other orphans, and each child receives an education, including a grounding in arts and music, as well as undergoing 8-10 years of circus training before becoming a performer.
